OneWed Reviewed Vendor 2009

Photography is a passion and also a business. I put my all into the work, from keeping in touch with my clients, to interested clients and producing the best photography I can. To me, each of these are skill sets and they are forever being built upon, as they’re influenced by the things that happen in life.

Today, the studio received news that we’d be awarded the Reviewed on OneWed badge for being a recognized professional photographer after receiving client reviews through their website.

OneWed Launches Reviewed on OneWed 2009 Program

Top Wedding Planning Website Distributes Reviewed on OneWed 2009 Awards to Wedding Professionals
Chicago, IL – [September 29, 2009] OneWed.com, the wedding planning website with the largest online directory of local wedding vendors and the first-ever wedding planning social network WeddingPreParty.com, is pleased to introduce the Reviewed on OneWed 2009 program!
Today, brides and grooms seek advice from their peers and place a high priority on recommendations from those who have wed before them. The Reviewed on OneWed program was created specifically to help couples find the most exceptional wedding professionals for their wedding day among the 200,000 on OneWed.

“In today’s world of user-generated content, brides seek out ratings and reviews of those wedding professionals they are considering using,” says Troy Henikoff, CEO of OneWed. “Seeing what other brides thought gives them confidence in the decisions they ultimately make when selecting wedding professionals. We are thrilled to recognize those wedding professionals who have earned the trust of brides and grooms.”
Understanding that a one-size-fits-all review system does not provide the depth of responses desired by brides and grooms, OneWed reviews are tailored to each of 22 specific vendor categories, from florists to caterers to reception venues. As such, engaged couples flock to OneWed for detailed ratings, valuable answers to their most crucial questions, and robust descriptions of past clients’ experiences.

OneWed reviews also serve as a marketing differentiator among wedding professionals within the OneWed Vendor Network. “Business listings with reviews are viewed 35 times more often than those without reviews-showing the power of reviews and a tailored rating system in the wedding industry” remarked Henikoff.

Find the wedding professional you desire for your wedding day from the over 200,000 local wedding vendors on www.OneWed.com.

The Studio is Published | WPPI Print Contest 2009

The studio is so pleased to announce that the recently awarded image of a bride running in the covered path in the lovely Waterfront Park in Charleston SC, is now published in the best of the 16×20 Prints judged this year at WPPI. The image will be printed along with 199 others in a book now available by pre-order at WPPI using their online store or via their magazine Rangefinder.

Every year, the studio seeks to improve and explore new techniques. The techniques are really only the tools, much like the camera and the flash, that together allow me to capture a scene. We have had quite a few self assignments this year, where we have explored new techniques and experiments with posing, movement and composition. I always compare this to a car manufacturing company who creates concept cars. They prove what they can do, given no limits. The end result is that these techniques and abilities can then be applied to commissioned work.

Inspiration | Gerry Ghionis Interview

One of my personal goals in life has always been to learn and reach for higher things. Without dreams, there are no real goals. I recently stopped by F-Stop Beyond | with Host Ron Dawson, whom had recently interviewed the talented Gerry Ghionis. He has to be one of Australia’s most talented photographers, not forgetting Yervant and others. I was fortunate enough to speak with him this year at WPPI in Las Vagas and always remember thinking that he shares so much, honestly and with sincerity. Once again, his interview by Ron is of the same nature. A true teacher of the profession!

Here’s his interview, enjoy!

Forever Bridal Poster | January 2010 Show

Wow, wow, wow! We are completed excited about the news that Forever Bridal has selected one of the studio’s images for their Bridal Show on January 2nd-3rd 2010. This image will be used for the poster campaign that they run for every show. When the poster is finished, I will add the image to this article.

Thank you Jane, for believing in the studio’s work!

Scouting Trip | Charleston SC

As has been the tradition for the last few years, we headed down to Charleston SC for my birthday to relax and scout around for one the next self assignment locations. We simply love staying at the Hilton Harbor Resort and Marina. With the available water taxi and trolley to downtown Charleston. It is the perfect location to get to many locations around the area.

We arrived mid-day on Saturday, after a leisurely drive down I-95. After a busy Friday, it was good to kick back and take in the views. The drive to Florida 3 times this year has soften the blow of a 5 hour drive to Charleston. It really feels like a short trip now, compared to how it used to feel a good few years ago!

On arriving, we explored Prime Outlets in North Charleston and then The Citadel. A must for all those bargain hunters and then headed to the hotel to check in. After freshening up, we took a short drive to downtown Charleston. There’s ample parking, with two main exits to take, E. Bay St and Kings Road, which will position any visitor in a good starting location. Once parked, we got out and explored some familiar roads. Funny though, how it always feels good to be walking around some of those streets again. Seeing the same shops, cafes and restaurants. I guess I just really love this city! It feels small, quiet and yet is a big city.

It’s not possible to visit Charleston without getting a gelato and then a coffee. Then you simply have to check out the Waterfront Park for the views, the fresh air and walks.

I’ve been experimenting with my iPhone camera, in particular an app called the Toy Camera. It really has bought a new life to the limits of the iPhone camera. Here’s a few images from the trip where I used the Toy Camera app.
